“A Grandmother’s Love”

A Grandmother’s Love

By : Kalifa Jordan

Cover your head at night and don’t go to bed with wet hair.

Do good and remember to always be fair.

Dress like a respectable lady and don’t mingle in the streets.

Pay attention in class and do what is required of you.

Study to show yourself approved.

Say Good Morning and Good Evening too.

Take care of your belongings.

Always clean up after yourself

Always have clean laundry,

Keep your room neat and tidy.

Eat your vegetables and fruits so you don’t get sick.

Take these herbs, it will make that cold disappear easily and quick.

Cover yourself in prayers before you leave the house,

The world is dangerous, unpredicted and things can go south.

Life isn’t easy but you can’t give up.

Keep believing, keep trusting, keep praying.

Whatever you want in life, keep declaring.

Reminiscing on the words from my grandmother….

I don’t remember each of them verbatim

But this is pretty much her advice

Teaching and molding me all these years

Ensuring that her words don't fall on deaf ears.

Always been there through happy times and tears.

A wise woman guiding her grandkid.
