“Saying Goodbye”
Saying Goodbye
By: AnnaMaria Leal
We often times think of the idea of saying goodbye as something we do with people. But how about the times we have had to say goodbye to the chapters of our lives that we are finally closing, to the places we have had to leave behind, and the moments that we cherish that will eventually turn into memories.
As this chapter of my life comes to a close, I am faced with the looming question of what I will do next. Will I say goodbye to the place on Remsen Street that served me well, or will I welcome it’s younger sibling on Livingston Street for brief continuation of the chapter I am looking to leave behind.
But as I am saying goodbye to a phase of my life, this place in my world that holds all of my fondest memories, it feels like a reality I am not willing to face.
I don’t like change, and yet I am faced with one of the biggest ones yet. To either close my time at SFC with one last hurray at the place I called home for 5 years or to take steps in a very different direction and embrace the newness that is to come.
I wish I knew the answer, but as of right now I am still waiting to see if saying goodbye is the right choice for me.
