The Closing Chapter
By: Anna Riddo
I guess to some writers a “last chapter” can mean relief.
The “closing chapter” to a writer can mean wrapping up everything in a perfect bow or preparing for the next story.. the sequel.
The “closing chapter” to a writer can mean preparing to tug at the heart strings to make people feel something.
An emotion whether that is sadness, happiness, fear, anger, all of the above, none of the above or everything in between.
The “closing chapter” to a writer could not seem so final.
The “closing chapter” to a writer can make them realize that instead they are like the reader.
Embarking on your own story, you realize that although you are the author who dictates the actions of the main character, you ( with outcomes predictable or unpredictable) sometimes are not prepared for a certain chapter of you life to end.
However, it depends on what you truly define as an ending.
An ending should not be defined that way.
A “closing chapter” should not be considered final.
Because when faced with a “closing chapter” in your life, it is not the end
It is something that can be revisited and remembered as you move on to the person you are becoming.
The End?
